Chauntelle McLennan

Position: Management
Categories: Administration
Location: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Yukon

Chauntelle leads day-to-day operations at Red Leaf Wellness as our Clinic Manager — the person who keeps the clinic running smoothly and shapes the decisions that touch every practitioner and patient interaction.

Her path here has been one of evolution. She began her career in holistic wellness, earning her Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant designation from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. Drawn to the physical side of health, she expanded into fitness — becoming a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer through CanFitPro and a Certified Culinary Nutrition Expert — and spent years leading group training sessions and personal home workouts, always driven by the belief that an active lifestyle is the foundation of wellbeing.

That grounding in the front line of wellness practice is what shapes her approach to leadership now. Chauntelle understands what practitioners need to do their best work and what patients need to feel cared for — because she’s stood on both sides of the experience. Today she applies that perspective across operations, team coordination, and the continuous small decisions that make an integrative clinic feel like a home rather than a waiting room.

Headshot of Cora Rennie, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist at Red Leaf Wellness Edmonton

Cora Rennie

Position: Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist
Categories: Anxiety, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Biodynamic Cranial Sacral Therapy, Depression, Grief Support, Hormonal Health, Hormone Health, Inclusive Health, Insomnia and Sleep Health, PTSD, Stress, Women’s Health
Location: Alberta

Cora Rennie is a biodynamic craniosacral therapist who helps people feel safer, more regulated, and more present in their bodies. She brings more than two decades of personal experience with this gentle healing work into every session. What clients notice most is the sense of calm, clarity, and renewed ease that continues well after they leave the table.

Cora’s journey with craniosacral therapy began over twenty years ago when a single practice session left her body deeply relaxed in a way she had never before experienced. That moment opened her eyes to how profoundly the nervous system responds to safe, informed touch. It also became personal when she saw dramatic improvement in her mother’s migraines and vertigo after just a few sessions with a practitioner.

After completing a rigorous two-year Biodynamic CranioSacral Therapy (BCST) training, Cora has developed a deep understanding of how the body’s own innate healing intelligence can be supported. She holds certification and registration with the Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy Association of North America, and her work is grounded in respect for the body’s natural rhythms and its drive toward health.

Clients come to Cora for many reasons, from ongoing stress and overwhelm to persistent tension patterns, sleep disruption, and emotional holding. Many people report:

  • A sense of nervous system calm and safety
  • Better sleep and less reactivity to stress
  • A feeling of being more settled in their body
  • Enhanced capacity to engage with life rather than just survive it
  • Support through major life transitions like perimenopause and menopause

Because BCST works with the nervous system itself, clients often find that their whole system begins to feel more coherent and resilient. This can lead to better outcomes with other forms of care too, as the body becomes more able to integrate changes and treatments.

Cora believes that every symptom is part of the body’s effort to protect and to adapt. Her role is not to “fix” you but to offer a supportive environment where your system can experience safety, resource, and deeper regulation. She feels honored to witness the shifts that happen when a body is finally allowed to come into balance.

Her approach is warm, perceptive, and grounded in connection, inviting you to be an active participant in your own healing. Whether you are navigating stress, transitioning through hormone changes, or seeking a more integrated sense of well-being, Cora’s work offers a space to be met, supported, and held with care.

Cora provides care at Red Leaf Wellness as an independent contractor.

Healthcare doesn’t need more administrators. It needs people who understand it from the inside out: clinically, operationally, legally, and technologically. That’s the space I’ve spent my career building toward.

I’m the Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Red Leaf Wellness Inc., and a former advanced care paramedic. That clinical grounding still shapes how I think about care delivery, and it’s why I take the operational side of a medical practice seriously.

My background spans health informatics, technology commercialization, regulatory compliance, and international health policy. What drives me is the practical end of it: care delivery, real outcomes, and building organizations that last.

At Red Leaf Wellness my work centres on expanding our clinical programs, deepening how technology supports them, building partnerships that extend what we can offer patients across Canada, and growing a team of exceptional clinicians who share our vision. We’re early in what we’re building, and that’s exactly where I want to be.

Previously I served as CEO and Executive Director of Health Technology Assessment International (HTAi), leading a global organization working across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, and digital health, with governance and regulatory responsibility spanning GDPR, HIPAA, and PIPEDA jurisdictions. That work is a large part of why I care as much as I do about how a clinic handles patient information.

I’m a dual citizen of Canada and Germany.

Location: Alberta

Dr. Jason Kossowan is a dedicated and licensed Doctor of Acupuncture with the College of Acupuncturists of Alberta, and a distinguished graduate of the Acupuncture program at MacEwan University. Jason’s path to healthcare began with his passion for Chinese martial arts, especially tai chi, which he has practiced since 2005. His journey in martial arts led to a profound appreciation for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and a desire to integrate these classical techniques into solutions for modern health challenges.

Jason is particularly drawn to the treatment of cardiovascular and neurological conditions, as well as sports medicine, where he combines precision with a deep respect for the body’s natural healing processes. His approach is integrative and patient-centered, focusing on meaningful outcomes and a collaborative model of care that bridges Eastern and Western perspectives.

At Red Leaf Wellness, Jason is committed to creating a therapeutic experience that respects the body’s innate wisdom and adaptability. He actively engages patients through tailored treatment plans that address their unique needs, while also exploring the broader health benefits of TCM practices.

Outside the clinic, you can find Jason refining his tai chi practice or enjoying a board game—especially the cooperative ones that bring people together.

Helping people comes naturally to Michelle! As a highly skilled Acupuncturist, Massage Therapist, and Advanced Care Paramedic she is widely recognized for developing unique care plans which draw on her knowledge and therapeutic touch gained across each of these specialized disciplines. Having over twenty years of combined expertise in caring for her patients, Michelle has had a front row seat to observe how stress and emotion affect the mind and body. Complementing her acupuncture services at Red Leaf Wellness, Michelle offers a variety of therapeutic and relaxation massage therapies, including pregnancy massage, myofascial release and myofascial cupping.

Michelle began her health career as a massage therapist, graduating the 2200hr Massage Program at Macewan University in 2001. Being active in competitive sport in her youth, Michelle understood the benefits of massage on sport performance, recovery and injury prevention. She subsequently branched into emergency care and became an Advanced Care Paramedic where she was able to offer a calming presence in stressful, emergent situations. Michelle has always believed that soft skills, an extra moment spent with family, or a hand to hold on the way to the hospital, can be as healing as the specific medical interventions themselves. Working as a Paramedic Michelle saw, and began to question, how it is that people differ in disease and the aging process and why the same drug benefited one person, but not the other. Her lifelong learning journey had her begin to look for these answers in the time-tested practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Acupuncture, thus kicking off another quest for knowledge at MacEwan University’s Acupuncture Program.

Michelle provides care at Red Leaf Wellness as an independent contractor.

“As a clinician and leader, I see myself not only as a caregiver but also as a teacher—empowering patients with the knowledge and tools they need to take charge of their health. By educating and guiding them, I can help transform their lives far beyond the treatment room, creating lasting wellness that they can carry with them. – Dr. Tammy Lalonde”

Caring for people is my true passion and one of life’s greatest callings. With years of experience as both a Paramedic and Acupuncturist, I’ve supported patients through obvious and invisible injuries alike. I’ve been there during moments of deep crisis – delivering babies in cars parked roadside, providing care at 30,000 feet, or flying emergency medevacs over the Arabian desert. Through these experiences, I’ve learned not just how to care for people in urgent need but how lasting health is built over time through lifestyle, nutrition, and proactive care.

Over the years, my focus has shifted toward prevention – helping people earlier, before minor concerns turn into complex conditions. A big part of that work is my role in leading our Hormone Health program, where we help patients address hormonal imbalances that impact energy, mood, sleep, and overall quality of life.

To better support our patients and lead in this evolving area of care, I’ve earned certification as a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) – a designation held by only a select number of clinicians across Canada. This credential reflects a high level of expertise in evidence-based menopause and hormone health management. Combined with advanced training in Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) through Worldlink Medical, this dual focus allows me to guide our Hormone Health program with clinical depth, strategic vision, and a commitment to whole-person care.

My academic journey has allowed me to bridge Eastern and Western medicine into a truly holistic care model. I have a particular passion for working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and PTSD, including those in the Armed Forces and Emergency Services. With a career spanning North America and the Middle East, I’ve served as a clinician, educator, and emergency medical dispatcher.

I hold active licensure and registration with the College of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAA), the California Acupuncture Board, the Alberta Herbalists Association (AHA), and the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). I’ve also served as a Board Director with the Alberta Pain Society and currently sit on the CAA Competence Committee.

Position: MD, Medical Director
Categories: Administration, BHRT, Cycle Health and PMS, Emotional Health, Hormonal Health, Inclusive Health, Medical Doctor, Men’s Health, Menopause, Reproductive Health, Sexual Dysfunction, Women’s Health
Location: Alberta

Dr. Esnielle Brooks is a family physician and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner who serves as Medical Director at Red Leaf Wellness. In this role she provides clinical governance and direction for our menopause and hormone health programs, working alongside our Nurse Practitioners and Naturopathic Doctors to keep our care pathways evidence-informed, current, and consistent across every clinician who delivers them.

Dr. Brooks earned her MB ChB at the University of the Free State in South Africa in 2007. She spent five years in rural South African practice, where family medicine, emergency medicine, obstetrics, and anesthetics all fell within a single day’s work. In 2013 she joined Norwegian Cruise Line as a senior physician running a shipboard medical centre, and in 2015 she and her family settled in Alberta. She has practised in Red Deer since 2020 and holds registration on the General Register of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Her focused practice is women’s midlife health. She is the founder and lead physician of The Menopause Clinic in Red Deer, where her work centres on perimenopause and menopause, hormonal and non-hormonal symptom management, and vulvovaginal and genitopelvic concerns including vaginal dryness, dyspareunia, and vulvodynia. She has pursued menopause training well past the requirements of general family practice, including certification through The Menopause Society, IMPART certification through the International Menopause Society, menopause coursework through the SOGC and Mayo Clinic, and the ISSWSH course on genitopelvic pain.

At Red Leaf Wellness, Dr. Brooks’s work is largely behind the scenes and in service of the clinicians you actually see. She provides clinical direction on protocol and care pathway development, offers curbside consultation and mentorship to our clinical team, advises on compliant care delivery models in Alberta, and contributes to patient education materials and presentations.

Dr. Brooks holds her Medical Director role at Red Leaf Wellness as an independent contractor. She is not currently accepting patient appointments at Red Leaf Wellness; her role here is clinical governance and advisory. Patients seeking care are welcome to book with any of our Nurse Practitioners or Naturopathic Doctors.

Dr. Riley Forbes, ND

Position: Naturopathic Doctor
Categories: Cardio-Metabolic Health, Hormonal Health, Hormone Health, Lifestyle, Naturopathic Medicine, Thyroid Disorders
Location: Alberta

Dr. Riley Forbes is a naturopathic doctor whose practice centres on women’s health, with a particular interest in hormonal, metabolic and thyroid concerns.

Dr. Forbes completed her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, where her clinical internship included more than 1,000 hours of supervised patient care, and where she co-authored a published clinical review. Before that she earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry, with a minor in Nutrition Sciences, from the University of Vermont, and served as a teaching assistant in undergraduate and medical biochemistry. That grounding in the underlying science shapes how she works: she takes the time to explain what is happening in the body and why a particular approach makes sense, so that patients can make informed decisions about their own care.

Her path into naturopathic medicine ran through the front desk. Over several years Dr. Forbes worked in patient care and clinic operations at naturopathic and multidisciplinary clinics in Ontario and Vermont, coordinating appointments, preparing lab requisitions and handling insurance billing for teams of practitioners. She knows first-hand how confusing healthcare can feel from the patient’s side of the counter, and that experience informs the unhurried, plain-language approach she brings to every visit.

Dr. Forbes works with patients to build individualized plans of care that draw on nutrition, lifestyle medicine, botanical medicine and targeted supplementation within the naturopathic scope of practice, with clear priorities and regular reassessment along the way. Her areas of interest include:

  • Women’s health across the lifespan, including perimenopause and menopause
  • Hormonal and metabolic health
  • Thyroid health
  • Lifestyle medicine and nutrition
  • Patient education and health coaching

At Red Leaf Wellness, Dr. Forbes practises alongside our naturopathic doctors, nurse practitioners and acupuncturists, and collaborates across disciplines whenever a patient’s picture calls for it.

Jennifer brings the same breathwork and presence that shape the rest of her practice, and clients consistently describe it as one of the most relaxing hours they spend.

Jennifer’s dedication to holistic well-being extends beyond her clinical practice. She believes in the powerful connection between mental and physical health, a conviction shaped by her own journey through mental health challenges and significant personal losses.
