Dr. Ac. Melody Sorensen
Dr. Melody Sorensen is a Doctor of Acupuncture registered with the College of Acupuncturists of Alberta and a graduate of the Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine program at MacEwan University. She also holds a Diploma in Holistic Nutrition from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, which shapes how she thinks about the link between what people eat day to day and how they feel.
Melody is drawn to internal medicine presentations: women’s health, digestion, hormone-related concerns and mental health. Her first visits are deliberately thorough. She asks a lot of questions about the main complaint and the wider symptom picture before settling on a pattern, choosing points and deciding which supporting modalities to use. Diet is part of that conversation rather than an afterthought.
Two things shape her practice. The first is individualization. She does not believe one plan fits everyone, so each person gets their own. The second is education: what someone does between visits matters as much as what happens on the table, so she explains the reasoning behind a recommendation rather than simply handing it over.
She tracks progress against measurable markers so that gradual change is visible, and she keeps the conversation open when a plan needs adjusting. Melody chose Red Leaf Wellness for its multidisciplinary setting and the chance to build shared plans of care alongside the naturopathic doctors, nurse practitioners and other practitioners on the team.
Melody provides care at Red Leaf Wellness as an independent contractor.
