Restore Her: More Than Just Gynecology
The Red Leaf Wellness Women’s Health Program: Edmonton and virtual across Canada.
✦ Naturopathic Medicine
✦ Nurse Practitioner
✦ Massage & Osteopathy
Women’s health is not a single concern. It is a lifelong conversation between your hormones, your cycle, your nervous system, and the demands of daily life. When something is off, it rarely shows up in just one place, and it rarely resolves with one solution.
At Red Leaf Wellness, our Women’s Health Program brings together acupuncturists, naturopathic doctors, and nurse practitioners in a coordinated care model. We investigate root causes using advanced hormone testing including DUTCH and salivary panels, and where clinically appropriate, our NPs can prescribe, including bioidentical hormones. No referral required.
In-person at our Edmonton clinic. NP-led hormone health available virtually across Alberta, BC, Ontario, and select provinces nationwide. Our clinical team is led by Dr.Ac Tammy Lalonde, MSCP – one of a select number of Menopause Society Certified Practitioners in Canada.

What brings you here today?
Condition Focus
PCOS: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
PCOS is one of the most common hormonal disorders affecting women of reproductive age, yet it remains significantly underdiagnosed. Characterized by elevated androgens, irregular cycles, and often insulin resistance, it affects fertility, weight, skin, mood, and long-term metabolic health.
Conventional medicine often addresses PCOS with the pill or metformin. Our integrative approach looks at the root drivers: androgen excess, insulin resistance, inflammation, and adrenal involvement. We use targeted hormone testing, acupuncture for cycle regulation and ovulation support, naturopathic protocols for insulin sensitivity, and NP-led prescription management where indicated.
We have a dedicated program for PCOS with phased testing, personalized protocols, and virtual care available across Canada.
How We Approach It
✦ Acupuncture & TCM
Cycle regulation, ovulation induction, inflammation reduction, and stress hormone modulation.
✦ Naturopathic Medicine
Insulin sensitizing protocols, botanical medicine, and advanced hormone panel assessment including DUTCH testing.
✦ Nurse Practitioner
Prescription management, lab requisitions, BHRT, and ongoing monitoring. Virtual across Canada.
✦ Fertility Connection
PCOS is a leading cause of infertility. We integrate with our Fertility Program for those pursuing conception.
How We Approach It
✦ Acupuncture & TCM
Hot flash reduction, sleep support, mood stabilization, and cycle management during the transition years.
✦ Naturopathic Medicine
Botanical adaptogens, phytoestrogens, adrenal support, and DUTCH testing to map your full hormone picture.
✦ Nurse Practitioner + BHRT
Bioidentical hormone prescribing, lab-based hormone optimization, and ongoing follow-up. Virtual care available Canada-wide.
✦ MSCP Credential
Dr.Ac Tammy Lalonde holds the Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) designation – one of a select number of clinicians in Canada.
Condition Focus
Perimenopause: The Transition Years
Perimenopause can begin a decade before your last period. Irregular cycles, sleep disruption, brain fog, mood changes, and hot flashes can arrive years before most women expect them – and standard bloodwork often comes back “normal,” leaving patients without answers.
We specialize in this transition. Our integrative model supports symptom relief through acupuncture and naturopathic medicine while our NP team assesses hormone levels in depth and prescribes bioidentical hormones where clinically appropriate.
Condition Focus
Endometriosis
Endometriosis affects roughly 1 in 10 women and takes an average of 7 to 10 years to diagnose in Canada. It causes tissue similar to the uterine lining to grow outside the uterus, triggering chronic pelvic pain, painful periods, pain with intercourse, and significant fertility challenges.
Integrative care does not replace surgical assessment, but it plays a critical adjunctive role: reducing inflammation, modulating the immune response, managing pain between interventions, and improving quality of life throughout treatment.
For patients pursuing fertility with endometriosis, see our Fertility Program.
How We Approach It
✦ Acupuncture & TCM
Research-supported reduction of pelvic pain and inflammation. Acupuncture modulates prostaglandin activity and improves pelvic circulation, reducing the severity of dysmenorrhea.
✦ Naturopathic Medicine
Anti-inflammatory protocols, estrogen metabolism support, gut microbiome assessment, and targeted supplementation to reduce estrogen dominance driving lesion growth.
✦ Massage & Manual Osteopathy
Myofascial release and manual osteopathy to address pelvic floor tension, adhesion-related restrictions, and the musculoskeletal pain patterns that accompany chronic endometriosis.
How We Approach It
✦ Acupuncture & TCM
Cycle phase-specific acupuncture protocols to regulate serotonin and progesterone sensitivity, reduce luteal phase symptoms, and calm nervous system reactivity.
✦ Naturopathic Medicine
Progesterone support, magnesium and B6 protocols, liver detoxification for estrogen clearance, and DUTCH testing to identify luteal hormone patterns.
✦ Nurse Practitioner
Prescription options including progesterone therapy and other hormonal interventions for moderate to severe PMDD. See also: Emotional Health Program.
Condition Focus
PMDD: Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder
PMDD is a severe, cyclical mood and physical disorder tied to the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. Unlike PMS, PMDD significantly disrupts work, relationships, and daily functioning. It is frequently misdiagnosed as depression or anxiety because the hormonal trigger is missed.
The underlying driver is not simply low progesterone: it is abnormal sensitivity to normal hormonal fluctuations, often with poor estrogen clearance, serotonin dysregulation, and an overactive stress response layered on top.
Our integrated approach addresses all three dimensions: hormonal, neurological, and inflammatory.
Condition Focus
Menopause & Bioidentical Hormone Therapy
Menopause is not a single event: it is a multi-year hormonal transition that affects sleep, cognition, cardiovascular health, bone density, mood, and sexual function. Many women are told to simply “wait it out.” We disagree.
Our approach combines acupuncture and naturopathic support for symptom relief with NP-led bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), when clinically appropriate. Our clinical program is led by Dr.Ac Tammy Lalonde, MSCP – holding the Menopause Society Certified Practitioner designation, one of only a select number of clinicians in Canada. Symptoms We Address
Condition Focus
Thyroid Disorders & Hashimoto’s
Thyroid dysfunction is disproportionately common in women. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis – an autoimmune condition – is the most frequent cause of hypothyroidism in Canada. Fatigue, weight changes, hair loss, cold sensitivity, brain fog, constipation, and depression are classic presentations that are often attributed to stress or aging before a thyroid connection is made.
Standard TSH testing captures only part of the picture. Our NDs and NPs assess free T3, free T4, reverse T3, and thyroid antibodies to understand the full clinical picture – and we treat the underlying immune dysregulation, not just the TSH number. See also: Hormone & Endocrine Testing.
How We Approach It
✦ Naturopathic Medicine
Comprehensive thyroid panels (including antibodies), gut microbiome work to address the autoimmune driver, nutritional support, and evidence-based supplementation for conversion and antibody reduction.
✦ Nurse Practitioner
Prescription thyroid management, lab requisitions, and co-management with your existing care team where applicable.
✦ Acupuncture & TCM
Fatigue management, immune modulation, and addressing the inflammatory and stress load that exacerbates Hashimoto’s flares.
How We Approach It
✦ Acupuncture & TCM
Pelvic circulation, reduction of heavy bleeding and cramping, and herbal formulas with demonstrated activity in reducing uterine blood stasis.
✦ Naturopathic Medicine
Estrogen detoxification protocols, DIM supplementation, liver support, and dietary intervention to reduce the estrogenic load that drives fibroid growth.
✦ Nurse Practitioner
Hormonal management, requisitions for imaging and bloodwork, and co-management with gynecology where surgical assessment is appropriate.
Condition Focus
Fibroids & Ovarian Cysts
Uterine fibroids affect up to 70% of women by age 50. Ovarian cysts, including functional cysts and those associated with PCOS or endometriosis, are similarly common. Both are strongly influenced by estrogen dominance – an imbalance between estrogen and progesterone that impairs healthy tissue regulation.
Integrative care does not replace surgical evaluation when it is needed. It does, however, address the hormonal terrain that allows fibroids and cysts to grow, and it significantly reduces symptoms: heavy bleeding, pelvic pressure, cramping, and cycle irregularity.
Condition Focus
Cycle Health, PMS & Menstrual Disorders
Painful, irregular, heavy, or absent periods are common – but they are not normal. They are signals. Dysmenorrhea, irregular ovulation, amenorrhea, and PMS each point to specific hormonal and physiological patterns that can be assessed and treated.
Acupuncture has one of its strongest evidence bases in menstrual pain and cycle regulation. Our NDs add functional hormone testing to identify what is driving cycle irregularity – whether that is stress-related HPA axis disruption, low progesterone, elevated androgens, or thyroid involvement. See also: Acupuncture for Hormonal Imbalance.
How We Approach It
✦ Acupuncture & TCM
Cycle phase-specific acupuncture protocols, Chinese herbal formulas for dysmenorrhea and cycle regulation, and moxibustion for cold-pattern menstrual disorders.
✦ Naturopathic Medicine
Female DUTCH hormone testing, nutritional deficiency assessment, progesterone support, and targeted botanical protocols.
✦ Nurse Practitioner
Hormonal prescription options, lab-based cycle monitoring, and management of conditions like hypothalamic amenorrhea where medical oversight is needed.
Advanced Hormone Testing
“My bloodwork came back normal” – but you still feel terrible.
Standard blood panels measure total hormone levels at a single point in time. They miss hormone metabolites, cortisol patterns, estrogen detoxification pathways, and the day-to-day rhythm of your hormonal cycle. For many women, this is exactly where the problem lives.
DUTCH testing (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) maps your full hormonal picture: estrogen and its metabolites, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, cortisol, and melatonin. It gives our clinicians what a blood panel cannot, and it changes treatment decisions.
DUTCH Testing Covers
Your Care Team
More Than One Lens. One Coordinated Plan.
No single discipline sees the whole picture. Our Women’s Health Program is built on collaboration: each practitioner brings a different clinical lens, and your care plan reflects all of them.
Acupuncture & TCM
Cycle regulation, pain relief, inflammation reduction, stress hormone modulation, and sleep support. Cycle phase-specific protocols for maximum effectiveness.
Naturopathic Medicine
Advanced hormone testing (DUTCH, salivary panels), botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, immune modulation for autoimmune thyroid conditions, and gut-hormone axis support.
Nurse Practitioner
Prescriptive authority for hormones (BHRT), thyroid medications, lab requisitions, and clinical management. NP care available virtually across Alberta, BC, Ontario, and more.
Massage & Osteopathy
Pelvic floor tension, myofascial release for dysmenorrhea and endometriosis-related restriction, manual osteopathy for structural contributors to pelvic and hormonal health.

Dr.Ac Lalonde 🇬🇧
“As a clinician and leader, I see myself not only as a caregiver but also as a teacher—empowering patients with the knowledge and tools they need to take charge of their health. By educating and guiding them, I can help transform their lives far beyond the treatment room, creating lasting wellness that they can carry with them. – Dr. Tammy Lalonde”
Caring for people is my true passion and one of life’s greatest callings. With years of experience as both a Paramedic and Acupuncturist, I’ve supported patients through obvious and invisible injuries alike. I’ve been there during moments of deep crisis – delivering babies in cars parked roadside, providing care at 30,000 feet, or flying emergency medevacs over the Arabian desert. Through these experiences, I’ve learned not just how to care for people in urgent need but how lasting health is built over time through lifestyle, nutrition, and proactive care.
Over the years, my focus has shifted toward prevention – helping people earlier, before minor concerns turn into complex conditions. A big part of that work is my role in leading our Hormone Health program, where we help patients address hormonal imbalances that impact energy, mood, sleep, and overall quality of life.
To better support our patients and lead in this evolving area of care, I’ve earned certification as a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) – a designation held by only a select number of clinicians across Canada. This credential reflects a high level of expertise in evidence-based menopause and hormone health management. Combined with advanced training in Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) through Worldlink Medical, this dual focus allows me to guide our Hormone Health program with clinical depth, strategic vision, and a commitment to whole-person care.
My academic journey has allowed me to bridge Eastern and Western medicine into a truly holistic care model. I have a particular passion for working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and PTSD, including those in the Armed Forces and Emergency Services. With a career spanning North America and the Middle East, I’ve served as a clinician, educator, and emergency medical dispatcher.
I hold active licensure and registration with the College of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAA), the California Acupuncture Board, the Alberta Herbalists Association (AHA), and the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). I’ve also served as a Board Director with the Alberta Pain Society and currently sit on the CAA Competence Committee.

Helping people comes naturally to Michelle! As a highly skilled Acupuncturist, Massage Therapist, and Advanced Care Paramedic she is widely recognized for developing unique care plans which draw on her knowledge and therapeutic touch gained across each of these specialized disciplines. Having over twenty years of combined expertise in caring for her patients, Michelle has had a front row seat to observe how stress and emotion affect the mind and body. Complementing her acupuncture services at Red Leaf Wellness, Michelle offers a variety of therapeutic and relaxation massage therapies, including pregnancy massage, myofascial release and myofascial cupping.
Michelle began her health career as a massage therapist, graduating the 2200hr Massage Program at Macewan University in 2001. Being active in competitive sport in her youth, Michelle understood the benefits of massage on sport performance, recovery and injury prevention. She subsequently branched into emergency care and became an Advanced Care Paramedic where she was able to offer a calming presence in stressful, emergent situations. Michelle has always believed that soft skills, an extra moment spent with family, or a hand to hold on the way to the hospital, can be as healing as the specific medical interventions themselves. Working as a Paramedic Michelle saw, and began to question, how it is that people differ in disease and the aging process and why the same drug benefited one person, but not the other. Her lifelong learning journey had her begin to look for these answers in the time-tested practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Acupuncture, thus kicking off another quest for knowledge at MacEwan University’s Acupuncture Program.

She is currently completing her final year of studies at MacEwan University, maintaining an outstanding academic record while gaining hands-on clinical experience treating pain, anxiety, insomnia, digestive concerns, and more.
Patients value Dan’s thoughtful, evidence-informed approach, as well as her deep respect for the body’s innate ability to heal. She is particularly passionate about helping people find relief from pain and stress-related conditions, drawing on both the ancient wisdom of TCM and her strong foundation in modern medical research.
At Red Leaf Wellness, Dan joins the team as an independent Registered Acupuncturist, offering treatments that align with our integrative, patient-centered philosophy. She looks forward to serving the community by helping patients achieve balance, reduce discomfort, and improve their quality of life through acupuncture and holistic care.

Cora Rennie 🇬🇧
Cora Rennie is a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist who helps people feel safer, more regulated, and more present in their bodies. She brings more than two decades of personal experience with this gentle healing work into every session. What clients notice most is the sense of calm, clarity, and renewed ease that continues well after they leave the table.
Cora’s journey with craniosacral therapy began over twenty years ago when a single practice session left her body deeply relaxed in a way she had never before experienced. That moment opened her eyes to how profoundly the nervous system responds to safe, informed touch. It also became personal when she saw dramatic improvement in her mother’s migraines and vertigo after just a few sessions with a practitioner.
After completing a rigorous two-year Biodynamic CranioSacral Therapy (BCST) training, Cora has developed a deep understanding of how the body’s own innate healing intelligence can be supported. She holds certification and registration with the Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy Association of North America, and her work is grounded in respect for the body’s natural rhythms and its drive toward health.
Clients come to Cora for many reasons, from ongoing stress and overwhelm to persistent tension patterns, sleep disruption, and emotional holding. Many people report:
- A sense of nervous system calm and safety
- Better sleep and less reactivity to stress
- A feeling of being more settled in their body
- Enhanced capacity to engage with life rather than just survive it
- Support through major life transitions like perimenopause and menopause
Because BCST works with the nervous system itself, clients often find that their whole system begins to feel more coherent and resilient. This can lead to better outcomes with other forms of care too, as the body becomes more able to integrate changes and treatments.
Cora believes that every symptom is part of the body’s effort to protect and to adapt. Her role is not to “fix” you but to offer a supportive environment where your system can experience safety, resource, and deeper regulation. She feels honored to witness the shifts that happen when a body is finally allowed to come into balance.
Her approach is warm, perceptive, and grounded in connection, inviting you to be an active participant in your own healing. Whether you are navigating stress, transitioning through hormone changes, or seeking a more integrated sense of well-being, Cora’s work offers a space to be met, supported, and held with care.
