Handling a missed dose depends on the type of medication you’re taking. Follow these specific guidelines for each:

Estrogen (Oral, Patch, Gel, or Cream):

  • Oral Estradiol: Take the missed dose as soon as you remember unless it’s close to your next scheduled dose. Do not double up.
  • Patches: Replace the patch if it falls off early and adjust your schedule as needed.
  • Gels or Creams: Apply the missed dose as soon as possible, but do not apply more than one daily dose.

Progesterone (Oral, Sublingual, or Vaginal Inserts):

  • Oral or Sublingual: If missed at bedtime, skip the dose and resume the following evening.
  • Vaginal Inserts: Insert the missed dose as soon as possible unless it’s close to the next scheduled dose.

Testosterone (Cream or Gel):

  • Skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double up.

DHEA (Capsules or Cream):

  • Capsules: Take as soon as you remember unless it’s close to your next dose.
  • Cream: Apply the missed dose the following day at your regular time.

Desiccated Thyroid:

  • Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, but skip it if you are close to the next scheduled dose. Avoid taking it with calcium or iron supplements within 4 hours to prevent absorption issues.

Oxytocin Nasal Spray:

  • Use the missed dose as soon as you remember unless it’s near bedtime, as it may interfere with sleep for some individuals. Resume your regular dosing schedule the following day.
