Professional head shot of Tammy Lalonde, the Owner and Licensed Acupuncturist at Red Leaf Wellness.

Tammy Lalonde (Owner and Registered Acupuncturist)

Caring for people is my passion and one of the greatest callings life has to offer.  I am a seasoned Paramedic and Acupuncturist with extensive experience assisting patients as they cope with obvious and invisible injuries. I have been there for those in desperate medical, psychological or traumatic situations, delivered beautiful babies in vehicles parked along the side of the road, and administered care in such odd locations as on a domestic airliner at 30,000 feet or when flying emergency medevacs over Arabian desertscapes. I know full well how to care for those in true crisis but have also witnessed so many more whose illnesses and injuries could be traced back to their treatment of the body as a whole, whether through their diet, fitness levels, or neglect. As my career has evolved, so has my focus, which has shifted to helping a greater number of people early on to prevent minor issues from evolving into larger and costlier illnesses.  In my practice I have found a niche offering by pairing these strengths in emergency care and women’s health with the respected skills and techniques from top practitioners in oriental medicine. All care is focused on returning the body, mind, and spirit to a whole.

My academic preparation closely incorporates oriental medicine with Western healthcare. My passions build on natural strengths in highly stressful complex interactions, care management, and treatment of anxiety, depression and PTSD – particularly amongst Armed Forces and Emergency Services personnel. Within North America and the Middle East I have enjoyed a long standing career as a respected clinician, clinical educator, fire and emergency medical dispatcher.  I hold active licensure with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), the College of Acupuncture and Associates of Alberta (CAAA), the California Acupuncture Board and the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP).  I am also a Board Director with the Alberta Pain Society.

Melanie Morrill (Registered Acupuncturist)

My passion is to provide a healthy, nurturing environment to support healing and growth for all of my patients. By using powerful combinations of acupuncture, acupressure, dry needling, electrostimulation, cupping, facial cupping, Chinese body work, moxibustion, nutraceuticals, and supplements I focus on current health issues, but also try to set the stage for  improving health and overall well being. I like to engage my patients in their health journey, and have us work collaboratively together to formulate a unique treatment plan to fit specific needs and a return to balance.

Treating complex health conditions can often be a challenging yet incredibly rewarding process for patients. I particularly like to guide couples through their fertility journey, including support for IUI and IVF cycles. I also find it rewarding to assist workers and athletes in recovering from injuries that are holding them back personally or professionally. Finally, I like to hold a healing space for people who are striving for emotional wellness. With a focus on soft touch acupuncture techniques, I am able to work slowly and gently with those who may have some fears and anxiety about acupuncture treatments. Often, I find that my patients are profoundly relaxed throughout and on occasion may even nap through the course of my time with them.

My passion for continuing education and being a lifelong learner has led me to achieve advanced training in sports medicine, injury rehabilitation, fertility, and gynecology/obstetrical care. Supporting body builders, whether building a baby bump or building themselves, is very rewarding. Studying anatomy, physiology, and biomedicine at the University of Alberta and also acupuncture at MacEwan University helps me better understand the underlying mechanisms of diseases and how to blend different healing modalities to craft a truly personalized treatment approach.

Outside the clinic I can be found gardening, walking in the river valley, or relaxing at home with a cup of tea and my adorable cats.

Jena Oberg Student Acupuncturist at Red Leaf Wellness

Jena Oberg (Registered Acupuncturist and Yoga Instructor)

Jena Oberg is an Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine Practitioner, who draws on several different bodies of knowledge to craft a treatment plan catered to each individual client.

As a practitioner, she is known for her methodic approach to Chinese medicine. She approaches patient care by combining the ancient wisdom of Chinese medicine with modern, conventional biomedicine.

Jena has always been passionate about health and she can address a variety of painful conditions from migraines to back pain. Her training also makes her a good choice for those seeking help with fatigue, stress management, thyroid symptoms, women’s health and many other ailments.

Jena’s skills also extend beyond the clinic; she is an experienced Yoga Instructor and regularly teaches yoga classes around the city. Her classes range from deep relaxation to power yoga where she integrates her knowledge of anatomy, physiology and breathing techniques into a practice.

After working as a commercial Interior Designer for many years, Jena decided she was more passionate about people than projects. She completed her Diploma of Acupuncture from MacEwan University. In addition to the training and exams required for licensing, Jena has completed post-graduate training to extend her biomedical and functional medical knowledge.

Jena has worked closely alongside Tammy Lalonde and continues to consult and draw from Tammy’s extensive knowledge into acupuncture and functional medicine.

Outside of the clinic, in her spare time, Jena enjoys being active in whatever form that takes and spending time with her friends/family.
